Continuous 24-Hour Care at Home in Melbourne's South East & Bayside
When a loved one needs round-the-clock support, Serenity Companions coordinates a consistent team of carers so your family isn't carrying it alone.
What Is 24-Hour Care?
24-hour care means your loved one has support around the clock — day, evening and overnight, every day of the week. Rather than one person working impossibly long shifts, we coordinate a small, consistent team of carers across rotating shifts, so someone is with your loved one at all times, and we aim for carers who know their routine, preferences and care needs. Day and evening shifts cover personal care, meals, mobility and companionship; overnight shifts (inactive or active, depending on need) provide either reassurance-on-call or hands-on support through the night. Families can see who's rostered and when through the ShiftCare Family App.
How Care Planning Works
Because 24-hour care involves coordinating multiple carers around complex or changing needs, our case manager visits your home in person to assess your loved one's circumstances and build a personalised care plan — at no additional cost to you. Rather than a one-off assessor, they become your ongoing point of contact through the care journey, staying involved as circumstances change. That plan guides which carers are selected, how shifts are structured, and what each carer needs to know before their first visit. Once the plan is approved, our rostering team matches and schedules carers around your loved one's needs.
Who Is 24-Hour Care For?
24-hour care suits a range of situations, including:
- An elderly parent with dementia or a high falls risk who shouldn't be left alone
- Recovery after a hospital stay where intensive support is needed while longer-term arrangements are considered
- Complex mobility or personal care needs beyond what family members can safely manage alone
- Families wanting to explore an alternative to residential care, subject to an assessment of what can safely be supported at home
- A short-term bridge while a family arranges ongoing funded or private care
Every situation is different, and suitability depends on an individual assessment of your loved one's needs.
How Continuity Is Managed
We aim to keep a small, matched group of carers with each client wherever practicable, rather than a constantly rotating roster of strangers. If a rostered carer becomes unavailable, our coordination team arranges cover from within our trained team, based on staffing availability at the time. You deal directly with our case manager and rostering team — not a call centre.
Fees
24-hour care is priced individually, based on your loved one's assessed needs, the mix of active and inactive shifts required, and staffing complexity. Our hourly rates for personal care, overnight and nursing shifts are published on our Fees page; for 24-hour arrangements, we provide a tailored written quotation following assessment.
Service Area
We provide 24-hour care across Melbourne's Bayside and inner south-east — including Brighton, Sandringham, Hampton, Cheltenham, Mentone, Bentleigh, Elsternwick, Elwood, St Kilda, Malvern, Prahran, South Yarra, Toorak, Armadale and Hawthorn — as well as Frankston, Dandenong and the Mornington Peninsula. Other areas may be considered depending on staffing.
Why Choose Serenity Companions
We're a private, Melbourne-based provider — not a large national agency. You deal directly with our case manager and leadership team, care plans are built around your family specifically, and you can see who's coming and when in the ShiftCare Family App.
Flexible by design for private-pay clients — no lock-in contract and no minimum term. You're free to adjust or end your care arrangement at any time; the only requirement is our standard cancellation policy for shifts already scheduled. And whenever you call, day or night, you reach our own team — never an outsourced call centre.
Our services are available to private self-funded clients and NDIS self- and plan-managed participants. Support at Home clients may be able to access Serenity's services through their registered provider where an approved service arrangement is in place.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does someone stay awake all night?
Depends on the plan — inactive overnight means a carer sleeps on-site and responds if needed; active overnight means a carer is awake and providing regular support throughout the night.
Will the same carers come every time?
We match a small, consistent team wherever practicable, though this depends on staffing availability at the time.
What if a rostered carer can't make their shift?
Our coordination team arranges cover from within our trained team, based on availability.
Can I use my NDIS or Support at Home funding?
Self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants can access our services directly. Support at Home clients may be able to use us through their registered provider where an approved arrangement is in place.
How is 24-hour care priced?
Individually, following an in-home assessment — we provide a written quotation before care begins.
How quickly can 24-hour care start?
This depends on your loved one's needs and our confirmed staffing capacity at the time — we'll discuss timing honestly in your first conversation.
